I'm going back to college.

I'm thrilled, actually.

Feb. 8th, 2009

I'm tired.
I'm worried.
I'm listless.
I'm fucking done.

I hope that your holidays were filled with love and joy, and that you've enjoyed STC's 2008-2009 season so far!

The New Year is almost here--and we need your help!
As I'm sure you're well aware, the economic crisis has affected everyone, and arts organizations all over the nation have either dramatically cut back services or closed their doors.

Our theatre company has managed to barely survive under these circumstances, but right now we're in need of raising a substantial amount of money in a very short time before things become strained beyond the breaking point. Frankly, we're facing the most serious financial challenge in STC's 67 year history.

It reminds me of something I once witnessed at a symphony concert. The famous violinist Joshua Bell was performing when his D string broke-a disaster for most musicians. But Bell never missed a beat, re-fingering the piece for almost 2 minutes!-until he finally had to stop. He apologized for not finishing his performance ("Sorry but I've run out of fingers") and promised to start over after returning to his dressing room to get his other Stradivarius.

STC has done everything it can to keep the performance going...but now, we've run out of fingers and there's no Stradivarius.

I'm writing to you today to ask for your help with an end-of-the-year donation. We don't want to be the next casualty in this harsh climate but the rest of our season is in jeopardy unless we raise a significant amount of money in the next two weeks.

Your investment not only provides financial support for upcoming productions like August Wilson's GEM OF THE OCEAN and NOISES OFF but allows us to continue our award-winning education and literacy programs and offer free tickets to disadvantaged youth, foster children, and military families in record numbers. Your donation helps STC to continue these programs without interruption

Please give generously. We can accept any form of payment, even over the phone with a credit card, and provide you all of our tax ID information for your records. And if you know anyone else that is in a position of helping us out, please let them know that STC would greatly appreciate the support!
Thank you so much for your support and I wish you a very blessed 2009!

My Best,

Mark Standriff, Managing Director
